Last month, Caroline Boule and Benoit Marie achieved a remarkable feat at sea, setting a new speed record aboard Nicomatic's Mini 6.50 prototype, reaching an impressive peak of 31.1 knots in the Courreaux de Groix. Resulting from a collaboration with naval architect Samuel Manuard, this 6.50-meter prototype, optimized since its launch in May 2022 in Lorient, has pushed technical boundaries, rivaling much larger racing yachts such as the 18.28-meter Imocas.
A Performance by Caroline Boule and Benoit Marie
This project is above all a human adventure, driven by the expertise and determination of Caroline and Benoit. Through their mastery and offshore racing experience, they were able to fully harness the capabilities of Nicomatic's boat, combining precise handling with a relentless pursuit of performance. With its large foils and lifting rudders, the Mini 6.50 is designed to “fly” above the waves, offering a thrilling experience for sailors and their guests.
“It’s just incredible,” says Benoit Marie, winner of the 2013 Mini-Transat. During outings with partners and guests, the crew enabled 15 individuals to experience the unprecedented speed of the prototype, with peaks exceeding 29 knots. This unique experience, marked by a sense of lightness and control, left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to embark on this adventure at sea.
Supported by Nicomatic, this project reflects a commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation by developing cutting-edge maritime solutions. Beyond its expertise in electronic interconnections, Nicomatic demonstrates its ability to partner with exceptional technological initiatives.
